Retour sur le Tournoi invitation de goalball de Montréal 2026 : 14 équipes, diffusion en direct, performances de haut niveau et un fort esprit d’inclusion

Du 23 au 25 janvier 2026, l’ASAQ a présenté une nouvelle édition du Tournoi invitation de goalball de Montréal, réunissant des équipes dans une atmosphère à la fois compétitive, dynamique et inclusive. Les matchs disputés tout au long de la fin de semaine ont offert des moments intenses, reflétant le haut niveau de jeu et l’esprit du goalball.

Au total, 14 équipes — 8 féminines et 6 masculines — ont pris part au tournoi, dont deux équipes américaines en provenance de Washington, D.C. et de Philadelphie, soulignant le rayonnement international de l’événement. Réparties en trois groupes (A, B et C), les équipes ont disputé leurs matchs dans deux gymnases, avec une diffusion en direct sur Facebook et YouTube pendant les trois jours. Les retransmissions ont rejoint une audience moyenne d’environ 380 personnes, confirmant l’intérêt croissant pour le goalball et le sport inclusif.

Au-delà des résultats, le tournoi s’est démarqué par la forte collaboration entre les équipes, les bénévoles et les spectateurs, créant un environnement rassembleur et stimulant tout au long de la compétition.

Sur le plan sportif, l’Ontario, la Nouvelle-Écosse et l’Alberta se sont illustrées tant chez les équipes féminines que masculines.

Lors de la cérémonie de clôture, Claudette Lévesque, membre bénévole du conseil d’administration de l’ASAQ et bénévole au tournoi, ainsi que Louis Séguin, président du conseil et également bénévole, ont tenu à remercier chaleureusement toutes les personnes impliquées pour leur engagement et leur contribution à cette édition mémorable.

Ils ont également souligné l’appui essentiel de nombreux partenaires : Le Gouvernement du Québec (Ministère de l’Éducation) et La Ville de Montréal, notamment pour avoir rendu le Complexe Gadbois accessible; Location Légaré et Le Nouvel Hôtel pour le soutien logistique; La Caisse Desjardins Centre-nord et AMI-télé pour l’appui financier; ainsi que Les producteurs de lait de l’Outaouais-Laurentides et Pepsi Canada pour les aliments offerts à la cafétéria du tournoi.

Enfin, certaines performances individuelles ont été soulignées. Amy Burk (Ontario A) s’est distinguée comme meilleure marqueuse chez les équipes féminines, tandis que Aaron Prevost (Ontario All Blacks) a obtenu cet honneur du côté masculin. Le prix « Oui, madame », remis en mémoire de Nancy Morin et soulignant l’excellence de l’esprit sportif et de la conduite exemplaire, a été décerné à Jade Ondrik (Ontario A).

Cette édition 2026 du Tournoi invitation de goalball de Montréal confirme l’importance de cet événement comme rendez-vous majeur du goalball au Canada, favorisant à la fois la performance sportive et l’inclusion sociale. L’ASAQ est fière de rassembler athlètes, bénévoles, partenaires et public autour de valeurs de respect, engagement et dépassement de soi, et se réjouit déjà de poursuivre cette mission lors des prochaines éditions.

From January 23 to 25, 2026, ASAQ hosted a new edition of the Montreal Open Goalball Tournament, bringing teams together in a competitive, dynamic, and inclusive environment. Matches throughout the weekend delivered intense and exciting moments, reflecting the high level of play and spirit of goalball.

A total of 14 teams — 8 women’s and 6 men’s teams — took part in the tournament, including two teams from the United States, representing Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, highlighting the event’s growing international reach. Divided into three pools (A, B, and C), teams competed across two gymnasiums, with live broadcasts on Facebook and YouTube over all three days. Online coverage reached an average audience of approximately 380 viewers, confirming the growing interest in goalball and inclusive sport.

Beyond the results, the tournament stood out for the strong collaboration between teams, volunteers, and spectators, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere throughout the event.

From a sporting perspective, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Alberta stood out in both the women’s and men’s categories.

During the closing ceremony, Claudette Lévesque, volunteer board member of ASAQ and tournament volunteer, and Louis Séguin, President of the Board and volunteer, thanked everyone involved for their commitment and for making this edition a memorable success.

They also acknowledged the essential support of ASAQ’s partners, including the Government of Québec (Ministry of Education), the City of Montréal, Location Légaré, Le Nouvel Hôtel, Caisse Desjardins Centre-Nord, AMI-télé, Les producteurs de lait de l’Outaouais-Laurentides, and Pepsi Canada.

Individual performances were also recognized, with Amy Burk (Ontario A) named top scorer in the women’s division and Aaron Prevost (Ontario All Blacks) in the men’s division. The “Oui, madame” Award, presented in memory of Nancy Morin to honor outstanding sportsmanship, was awarded to Jade Ondrik (Ontario A).

The 2026 Montreal Open Goalball Tournament once again confirmed its role as a key event for goalball in Canada, promoting both athletic excellence and social inclusion.
